Greetings from the Principal,
Mrs. Sharon Walters

Dear Robert J. Burch Community,

What a busy summer it has been!  I am so excited to be your Principal at Robert J. Burch this year.  I have served as the Assistant Principal at Crabapple Lane and Huddleston for the past seven years.  As a classroom teacher, I taught kindergarten and first grade in both Clayton and Fayette counties. After twenty years in education, I can honestly say that watching children grow is a wonderful job!

Family is a word at the top of my list.  It says who I am.  My husband, Glynn is a tax audit supervisor for the State of Florida.  Our roots are from the hot Louisiana Delta; hence, we are avid LSU fans!  We have four children, all of which attend Fayette County schools.

The focus for my first year at Robert J. Burch will be to continue cultivating the positive school culture, giving consistent and clear communication, and providing a challenging curriculum.  Together, WE will ensure that our students learn in a caring and sharing environment that promotes each child’s personal growth.  My office door is always open.

I want to take this time to remind you of how critical you are to the success of your child.  Together we can provide the support each student needs.  A narrative written by Karen Hegeman supports this message.

Essential Piece

Schools are like jigsaw puzzles.  Each edge piece of a puzzle interlocks with two others to form the puzzle’s framework and give structure and support to the puzzle as a whole.  Each piece has a unique design and cut that ensure just the right place to fit within the puzzle.  The school community is the strength and stability, and like the edge pieces, they do not stand alone in this responsibility.  There are always others to support and assist, ensuring that each and every student has a place.

I encourage you to volunteer and take your place in completing this wonderful “puzzle” we call Robert J. Burch Elementary School.  I look forward to working with all of you this school year.

Go Burch Bears!

Mrs. Sharon Walters

2. Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status through which state certification has been waived.

3. The degrees earned by the teacher and the field of certification or degree.
